Stress is a rule-based expert system shell consisting of five programs:

• an Editor to construct objects and rules for a knowledge base;
• an Inference engine to interpret the knowledge base;
• two inspection tools to examine the Agenda and Blackboard , while the Inference engine is running;
• a Trace facility to trace the inner workings of the Inference engine.
